After a hard week, I needed to re-center myself. This week brought up deep insecurities, and I began questioning my purpose on this journey. For this episode of Mysia Evolving, I revisited a recording of my grandma talking about her self-worth. My grandma is one of the most confident people I know. She revealed to me that her confidence was born as a refusal to let anyone make her feel like she wasn't valued. I hope one day I have unshakable self-love, self-worth, and self-appreciation. Thank you, Betty Lou 💕 (link in bio)

This photo was taken in 1969 for LIFE magazine. The article to accompany this image was a feature about the beauty, presence, and economic role of Black models in the industry.
I'm going to start using my Instagram as a personal archive of Black aesthetics across time. Send me/tag me in photos of your mommas, aunties, cousins, and all the other fierce self-makers in your life. My goal as a curator is to find the disruptions, continuities, stories, and beauty of us ✨
